One in 155 women, and one in 101 men, 65 years old or more, are most likely to get stomach cancer. What is stomach cancer? Stomach cancer is a digestive cancer that develops in the lining of the stomach. According to cleverandclinic.org, It occurs when there is a genetic mutation in the DNA of your stomach cells. Stomach cancer happens 1.5% per year of all new cancers. Stomach cancer is caused by smoking or alcohol use, family history/genetics, age, unhealthy diet.


There are some symptoms of stomach cancer according to mayoclinic.org, that include;

● Stomach pain, mile and severe, could move to your back

● Weight loss, unplanned or unexpected

● Vomiting, vomit that contains blood

● Nausea

● Blood in stool, stools could be dark brown, etc

● Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia)

● Feeling full after small amounts of food (satiety)

● Heartburn (dyspepsia)

● Indigestion (dyspepsia)

● Anemia, tired, weak, low red blood cells

● Jaundice, yellowing of skin or/and eyes


Having more than 3 symptoms means you should probably see a doctor.

Age, certain racial/ethnic backgrounds, having previous stomach injury, having pernicious anemia, type A blood type, or inherited a cancer syndrome plays a big part in getting stomach cancer. These all are uncontrollable and are genetic. All cancers are incurable, and causes of some are unknown, but by establishing good habits could lower chances of getting stomach cancer. According to cancer.org, a good diet, avoiding processed meat, limiting alcohol and stop smoking, considering supplements, taking aspirin and NSAIDS, and getting screened could help prevent stomach cancer. By adapting to good habits, you could decrease your chances of getting stomach cancer by a lot.
