One Minute Read: What is Duodenal Cancer? --- By: Jessica Yao

Duodenal cancer affects the first part of the small intestine, called the duodenum. It is a rare but serious cancer that often causes symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

Risk factors include Crohn’s disease and hereditary syndromes such as familial adenomatous polyposis. Diagnosis often involves endoscopy and biopsy.

Surgical resection is the primary treatment, often followed by chemotherapy or radiation if the cancer is advanced. Due to its location and rarity, duodenal cancer is often diagnosed at a late stage, making early detection crucial.
