One Minute Read: Gallbladder Cancer Overview---By: Jaemin Jang

Gallbladder cancer is a rare type of GI cancer that begins in the gallbladder, a small organ under the liver that helps in fat digestion. It is often diagnosed late because its symptoms resemble other, more common conditions.

Common signs include abdominal pain, jaundice, and bloating. Risk factors include gallstones, chronic gallbladder inflammation, and obesity. Surgery is the most common treatment if detected early.

If caught early, gallbladder cancer may be treated with surgery to remove the gallbladder and surrounding tissues. Chemotherapy and radiation may be used in later stages. Preventative measures include maintaining a healthy weight and managing gallbladder-related conditions early.
